Would the Fender jim root telecaster be good for punk?

I'm literally in love with the guitar but not that much into metal, has anyone got one and can tell me how it performs with music like Blink 182, rise against, nirvana sort of style? Ive seen countless demonstrations but they all play metal riffs and would really like to know what it sounds like with the overdrive and distortion turned down alittle bit, thanks!
